I have definitely had kids who act that way in class. Have you guys ever been in class with a kid like that? Do you think it's funny? Is it distracting? Should the teacher have put up with as much as she did? What should she have done? What would you have done? Should he just be allowed to behave that way? I could talk about this one for days. I had a kid last semester take off his sock and create a puppet with which he spoke to the kid in front of him. It was hilarious! Distracting? Of course. Should I have punished him? I don't know. There were definitely better uses of our time than sock puppeteering.

Fact: There are no better uses of time than sock puppeteering.

If you really thought it was funny, I don't see why you would punish him. It is a general rule of thumb among teachers that you can only punish a student for lame jokes. That kid could be the new Jeff Dunham, and if you punished him it could have crush his dreams.
